We had a rather short testing period, but the results were good. We had a lot of players join and test the servers, as well as read the rules/settings and everyone has provided fantastic feedback.

Last Minute Config Fixes

Passive taming was found to be broken. This was because the feed interval was still set to 1x so I’ve set that to 0.2 (which is 5x) and was able to tame Crystal Wyverns. When this was mentioned I remembered having this issue in early OG days, so glad this was reported because I had missed it.

Experience was found to be entirely way too fast; somewhere around 5-10x. This is because Ark allows per-action XP buffs and all XP buffs were set to 2.5x in addition to the global buff. This was rectified and tested that XP gain is 2.5x all up.

Difficulty wasn’t working. I’m not sure why but the settings had been dropped. Re-added and all is fixed. The second dino I saw after a dino wipe was a 150 Bronto which was kind-of cool.

Dropped supply crate quality as it was set to 5x for some reason. This was problematic in the past and we had good results and feedback on 1.0.

Settings in Flux

Testing showed that enabling collision prevention made so many base spots unbuildable. The mechanic just doesn’t allow PVPers to build walls or anything without bronto sized gaps.

Collision prevent has been disabled however abuse of the mechanic will result in map wipe. If that sticks not big enough, we’ll upgrade to cluster wiping tribes who feel the need to embed behemoth gates and foundations into the terrain.

ORP is still being heavily discussed. Up until the final 13 minutes to launch. Lots of points for and against.

We’re trialing auto unlocking of engrams. This may or may not be dropped. We don’t want all engrams unlocked regardless of level, but we also share the pain in having to constantly double click engrams every time you respec.

Dino weight stat boost was decreased from 10 to 5 per point. One point in a crystal wyv with low base weight stat gave 200 weight per point. It was too much so have dropped that down a bit to prevent OP haulers.

It’s unclear if clamping is working correctly. We will be monitoring players BPs and will continue testing to confirm. Players getting OP BPs should not cheer too heavily; please just report it because we’re going to clamp it eventually anyway.

Breeding is heavily untested. My internet dropped before I could test. Will adjust adhoc.

Genesis 2 world buffs are still unclear. There’s some fantastic points in support of enabling world buffs, but there’s also some great reasons not to.
